Stiff price growth on Poznans housing market

Article added on: 2007-05-01

In April the prices of flats in Poznan rose more steeply than anywhere else in Poland, i.e. by 11.3%. The average price per m² of a flat in the city at the end of that month amounted to approx. PLN 6,200 (€1,650). As a consequence, Poznan has now passed another price threshold, i.e. the PLN 6,000 (€1,595) per metre barrier.

Price growth in Wroclaw, Lodz and the Tri-City was much lower and Warsaw and Krakow noted marginal price increases of 1%. It is also worth pointing out that the Tri-City area is the fourth major urban centre in Poland, after Krakow, Wroclaw and Warsaw, where the average per metre price of a flat now stands above PLN 7,000 (€1,860).

The highest price growth in Warsaw was observed in the following districts: Ochota (43.7%), Zoliborz (18.2%) and Saska Kepa (17.7%). Prices declined the most in Srodmiescie (by 6.2%) and Wola (slipping 2.2%).
