City councillors have approved a long-term investment programme for Kielce, which provides for more than PLN 1bn (€250m) in expenditure to develop the city’s agglomeration in 2007-2011.
The most important investments concern transport and communications. The main goal is to build a regional airport in Obice, which is to cost an estimated PLN 500m (€125m). A further PLN 120 (30m) is to be spent on reconstructing national roads No. 74 (Swietokrzyska and Lodzka Streets) and No. 73 (Sciegiennego Street).
There are also plans to create a collective communications system for the municipalities in the Kielce metropolitan area, revitalise downtown areas, build a Science-Technology Park in the town and carry out investments in the city’s conference-exposition-fair structure.
The entire programme covers 26 investment tasks. Half of the tasks listed in the programme may receive financial aid from EU structural funds. |
